Himalayan Pine & Mist

Blue pine and deodar trees emerging from a mid-morning mist on a Dalhousie ridge. The Himalayan deodar cedar — Cedrus deodara — is the soul tree of this region. The word comes from Sanskrit: deva (divine) + daru (wood). Some trees in the Kalatop forests nearby are estimated to be over 500 years old.
