Deodar cedars frame a mountain road on Dalhousie's Bakrota Hill — one of the five hills the town is built across. This is the same hill where 12-year-old Rabindranath Tagore stayed in 1873 with his philosopher-father Debendranath at a bungalow called 'Snowdon'. Some literary historians connect those mountain mornings to the founding of Shantiniketan.
